Rice Lake, Canada is located in the Great Lakes region of Central Southern Ontario, 110 km (67 mi) east of Toronto. Geographically, the lake is 23 miles long, 3 to 4 miles across and contains 20 islands. Rice Lake is the outlet of the Otonabee River and the source of the Trent River. It is part of the scenic Trent Severn Waterway, a 240 mile system of rivers, lakes, canals and locks enabling boaters to take their pleasure craft from Trenton, Ontario to the Bay of Quinte to Port Severn on Georgian Bay. The lake lies in rolling farmland; its shoreline is deeply indented; marshes extend into its waters; its islands rise like miniature mountains from its surface. The shoreline inclines to meet the crest of maple and oak-wooded hills mixed with pines.
